2023 Beach Handball Global Tour Finals to take place in Qatar

The 2023 IHF Beach Handball Global Tour Finals will take place in Doha, Qatar from 3 to 4 November.
The menâs and womenâs winners in Doha will be crowned the 2023 IHF Beach Handball Global Tour champions.
The event in the Asian nation is the fourth stage of the 2023 tour and fourth continent visited, following stage 1 in South America (MaricĂĄ, Brazil), stage 2 in Africa (Hammamet, Tunisia) and stage 3 in Europe (PĆock, Poland).
Winners from each of the menâs and womenâs three previous stages automatically qualified for the event in Doha.
Womenâs competition
In the womenâs competition, Brazil (stage 1) and Tunisia (stage 2) will be joined by Poland (third place in stage 3 after Germany and Denmark were unable to compete, and the People's Republic of China (who take the place of hosts Qatar, who do not have a womenâs team currently).
China were the invited side because the Asian country will be the hosts of the 2024 IHF Menâs and Womenâs Beach Handball World Championships, as well as the World Games 2025. Taking part in the 2023 IHF Beach Handball Global Tour Finals will help China gain invaluable experience for those events in the future.
For Tunisiaâs womenâs team coach Hajer Ben Moussa, the event will end a busy and successful year on the sand.
âThe IHF Beach Handball Global Tour in Tunisia was an opportunity for our players to progress and prepare for the African Beach Games,â she said.
âThe tour also offers an opportunity for our players to gain another experience at world level and give our young players a chance.
âWe played Brazil last year at the IHF Womenâs Beach Handball World Championship and Poland at The World Games 2022 and look forward to playing them again.â
Menâs competition
Each stage winner of the menâs tour will be in Doha, with Brazil (stage 1), Tunisia (stage 2) and Denmark (stage 3) joined by hosts Qatar.
âWe are expecting to face a strong competition from those big names in the world of beach handball,â said Qatarâs Mohamed Zaky to ihf.info.
âThese teams have won medals in world and continental champs, so it's going to be hard, but we will exciting games as well.
âAll the teams, players and fans coming to Qatar can expect a very generous host people who are experienced in major handball events such as the 2015 IHF Menâs World Championship and 2019 ANOC World Beach Games. âThey are really going to enjoy the country and seeing the heritage.â
For Tunisia menâs team coach Mohamed Tabboubi, Doha will provide an opportunity to test his relatively young squad against some of the global elite.
âIn Doha, we will face the best teams in the world, very experienced teams with international records,â he said to IHF.info.
âIt will be of a very high level, given the participation of the best European and world players, but a golden opportunity to play and improve our level, especially because we are building a fairly young - Â but very ambitious - team.
âThis summer we had an excellent season,â he added. âWe won the stage in Hammamet just after finishing second in an international friendly tournament behind France.
âWe also won the gold medal of the African Games and finished fifth at the Mediterranean Games.â

About the IHF Beach Handball Global Tour
The IHF Beach Handball Global Tour was launched last year at the 2022 IHF Men's and Women's Beach Handball World Championships in Greece.
It debuted in Gdansk, Poland, in July 2022, with Croatia winning the men's tournament and Spain taking the top spot in the women's tournament.
The 2023 tour has visited Brazil, Tunisia and Poland and will end in Qatar with a finals event in November.
