Since making their debut at the IHF Women’s Junior World Championship in 1995, Argentina have never made it into the top 10, with their best finishes being the 12th place in 2008 and the 15th place in 2010.

In the previous edition, the South American side missed out on a main round berth and ended up on the 25th place, the worst finish in their history, after winning only against Italy, Kazakhstan and India.

They bounced back in 2023, when they secured the title in the South and Central American Women's Junior Handball Championship, by delivering a 28:22 in the final against archrivals Brazil, with five win in five matches, sealing their second continental title in just two years.

They have some interesting players, especially backs Sofia Gull and Azul Spinelli, who have impressed in the younger age category Argentina teams, yet their work will be cut out in this edition of the IHF Women’s Junior World Championship, where the South American champions have been handed a very difficult draw.

Argentina are in Group C, alongside two of the title contenders – Hungary and the Republic of Korea – and an underdog, Mexico. But with only the first two teams qualifying to the main round, Argentina will have to win against the two powerhouses, which made the semi-finals at the 2022 IHF Women’s Youth World Championship in North Macedonia two years ago.

On the other hand, this generation of the Argentina team finished on the 25th place in that competition, needing improvement in all aspects of their game, if they are to seal a better finish here.
