The youth team of Cameroon and the junior team of Congo won titles at the Men's IHF Trophy Zone 4 Africa, which took place from 21 to 25 May 2024 in Yaounde, Cameroon. The winners also booked their tickets to the IHF Trophy Continental Phase Africa, which will be held later this year. 

In the youth (U18) tournament, home side Cameroon defeated Congo in the final match, 40:32. And although Chad defeated Central African Republic in a third-place encounter (34:32), it was Central African Republic who earned bronze, as Chad's results at the tournament were not considered (they failed to present biometric passports).

In the junior (U20) competition, which was held in a round-robin format, Chad beat Congo 31:25, and Cameroon proved too strong for Central African Republic (35:31) on the last day. Chad's results were not considered either, so Congo won the title with six points ahead of Cameroon (four), Democratic Republic of Congo (two) and Central African Republic (zero).

The Men's IHF Trophy Zone 7 Africa, which was staged in Antananarivo, Madagascar, also finished on Saturday 24 May, and Madagascar's youth team and Reunion's junior team were the winning sides. 

In the youth event, Seychelles were given a 10:0 win against Comoros on Friday, and Madagascar beat Seychelles 38:12 on Saturday, while the home side also got a 10:0 victory against Comoros. So Madagascar finished first, Seychelles second, and Comoros were ranked third.

In the junior competition, Reunion beat Madagascar in a decisive match, 30:24, and won the trophy, while Seychelles finished third after they were given a 10:0 win against Comoros. Therefore, Reunion are now qualified for the IHF Trophy Continental Phase Africa.
