Tunisia 2025: All the statistics after the preliminary round

With the preliminary round of the 2025 IHF Men’s and Women’s Youth Beach Handball World Championships now complete, ihf.info takes a look at some of the statistics so far.

Germany and Spain making the numbers count in men’s competition

Germany’s Finn Jacobsen leads the men’s scoring charts after the preliminary round, with 52 points scored from 26 goals – including 23 spinshots – in his three games, averaging 17.33 points per game.

Tunisia’s Yahia Makhlouf leads the assists charts, helping his teammates, on average, with 7.67 per game – 23 overall in their three games.

Germany top the points scored charts with 168 points in their three games, averaging 56 per game. This is no surprise, considering they have also scored the most actual goals – 84 in three games (28 per game) and attempted the most shots with an average of 36.3 per game (109 in total).

If we break down those shots, Germany lead the spinshot stats with the most attempts – 72 (24 per game) resulting in them scoring from them the most times, with 55 goals coming from them (18.3 per game).

The tradition of Brazil and their in-flights continues, with the South Americans lead the attempts, trying 19 in total so far in their three games (6.3 per game). They are also way out in front, with 16 goals coming from them (5.3 per game).

Spain have the meanest defence, conceding just 42 points in their three games, an incredible 14 per game, while Tiago Azevedo has made the most saves so far, the Brazilian making 30 stops from 80 attempts (38%) in his three games so far.

The Cook Islands currently lead the Fair Play table with Oman, both sides having not picked up any suspensions or red cards in their games so far.

Using the ‘Game Valorisation Index’(GVI) – a statistical-based model developed by Toma-Soft/IHF Beach Handball Analysis System – which measures the influence of players on games, Spain’s Jesus Sanchez de la Neita Garcia currently leads the statistical MVP table after the preliminary round, sitting on a points score of 60.42. He is closely followed by Makhlouf and Jacobsen, who sit on 58.74 and 55.84 points respectively.

Spain impressing in women’s stats

With an average of 54.6 points per game so far, Spain top the points-scored table, with 164 scored in total. While Hungary have the meanest defence, conceding just 76 points so far in their three games.

Spain average 28 goals per game to top the scoring charts in terms of actual goals – with 84 in total, while Croatia and Germany are tied on 111 attempts each in their three games (37 attempts per game). Carlota Bravo Garcia has been on fire with them so far at Tunisia 2025 and it is no surprise that she tops the goalscoring charts, sitting on 69 points from her three games with Spain so far, 23 points ahead of second-placed Helena Furcic from Croatia (46 points).

Like the men’s statistics, Tunisia also lead the assists with Doua Boussema helping her team 14 times in her three matches (4.67 per match).

For in-flights, South America leads the way in the women’s competition too, with Uruguay scoring from the spectacular skill 21 times in their three games, while attempting the most too – with 28 (9.3 per game). Spain also lead the spinshot charts, scoring 62 times from them (20.6 per game). Croatia have attempted the most with 85 (28.3 per game).

Down the other end of the court, another Spanish player, Maria Arnay Mancebo, plus Senegal’s Jacqueline Lopp, have made the most saves so far, both stopping 21 each, an average of seven per game. Kenya, Brazil and France top the fair play table with just one suspension each so far.

Overall, Mia Herr from Germany leads the statistical MVP list, sitting clear on top with 67.43 points, ahead of Bravo Garcia in second (60.83) and Uruguay’s Josefin Henaise Rompani in third (60.27).
