Tunisia 2025 – Team and schedule update
16 Jun. 2025

After the Tanzania Amateur Handball Association informed the IHF last week that both their men’s and women’s teams were not able to compete at the 2025 IHF Men’s and Women’s Youth (U17) Beach Handball World Championships in Tunisia there has been a change to the schedule and teams of the competition.
As per IHF Competition regulations, the two places were offered first to the continent from which the team(s) came from, in this case Africa (CAHB).
With no teams from the continent able to replace them, as per the regulations, the places were then offered to the first reserve in the list – from the continent of the world champions, in this case, Europe (EHF).Â
In the men’s competition, Croatia accepted the place and will now replace Tanzania. In the women’s competition, no replacement team was able to accept.
Further to this, the Islamic Republic of Iran Handball Federation informed the IHF on Sunday (16 June) that they were unable to travel to Tunisia to compete. With the championships due to start on Tuesday (17 June), it was not possible to find a replacement team.
Therefore, both the men’s and women’s competitions at Tunisia 2025 have now been reduced from 16 teams each, to 15.Â
All men’s games originally involving Iran and all women’s games originally involving Tanzania will now be default 2-0 (10:0, 10:0) wins to their opposition.
