At the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, each team must designate 14 Aa athletes and three Ap alternate athletes at the technical meeting. After confirmation of the final team composition of 14 Aa athletes and three (3) Ap alternate athletes at the technical meeting, replacements may be made using an electronic Late Athlete Replacement (e-LAR) tool within the Sports Entries (SEQ)

Following the update of the Aps in Teams Sports communicated by the IOC on 4 July to the Chefs de Mission, teams will have more flexibility for replacements for medical reasons as long as the LAR policy is complied with. An athlete who was replaced and thus changed their accreditation status to Ap can return to the team roster if their medical conditions allow it. There are two options for the recovered athlete to return to the competition:

  • The initial replacement is reversed. The player who initially replaced the injured player and is now taken off the team roster does not have to have an injury/medical condition.
  • The recovered athlete can replace any of the other Aa athletes who is unable to compete for medical reasons certified by the team and IF medical representatives (as per the LAR policy and process).
