Team Info

France have a vast experience of playing at the IHF Women’s U20 World Championship, as they are heading into their 18th tournament. Since 2005, they have not missed any edition, so now the French team will play their ninth World Championship in a row.

However, they reached the podium only once, earning silver at Czech Republic 2012 with the players like Laura Glauser, Grace Zaadi, Pauline Coatanea and Manon Houette in their squad. In the following years, the French handball regularly generated young talents, but the junior team failed to rank high at the World Championship.
Two years ago at Slovenia 2022, the team with Lena Grandveau and Sara Bouktit finished only 13th, and last year, France took the sixth position at the Women's 19 EHF EURO 2023, which allowed them to qualify for North Macedonia 2024.

Now head coach Eric Baradat, who was previously the assistant coach in France senior women’s national team, hopes to do well. He relies on a group of players who are coming up at their clubs, including the French powerhouses Metz Handball and Brest Bretagne Handball.

Left back Assa Sissoko Dabo from Merignac HB, who missed most of the season through an injury, is now back in action, and even if her physical shape is not perfect, she is ready to help the team in the tournament.
France have been drawn into a tough Group F along three other European teams. However, Baradat’s team have a chance to go through, and they have been working hard to get ready for the World Championship in the best possible way.

Key players: Nina Dury (left wing), Assa Sissoko Dabo (left back), Enola Borg (centre back)
