After making their debut at the IHF Men's Junior World Championship in 2011, Serbia have become regular participants in the tournament, missing only one edition in 2017. The Europeans are heading into their fifth event at this level, and while the 10th place at Bosnia and Herzegovina 2013 is still their best result, now the Balkan team is determined to go even further.
And they have a reason to be optimistic, as this generation of Serbian players earned bronze at the 2022 European Men's Junior Championship. In the semi-final of that competition, they lost against eventual title holders Spain in a close fight (29:32) before defeating Sweden 30:26 in the third-place encounter. 

Notably, Serbia's centre back Stefan Dodić was elected the MVP of the European Championship, and his teammate Marko Tasić became the Best Defence Player. Now the Balkan side can again rely on these two players, as well as on left back Miloš Kos, who was the joint fourth-best scorer of the continental competition with 44 goals. 

So the talent is certainly there, and Serbia can definitely hope for a successful performance at Germany/Greece 2023. Their primary goal is to qualify from Group G, where they face Morocco, Chile and Iceland, and if the Europeans succeed, they will keep fighting for a quarter-final spot.
