Near the end of this one-sided all-European affair, Croatia led by 15 in what was a complete annihilation of their opponents who had no answer and no luck.

The Croatians had started with key men Filip Vistorop and Halil Jaganjac on the bench but that did not have any effect on the early proceedings as Croatia led 5:3 and Iceland took an early time out (13:05 on the clock).

It was Croatia’s turn later, with 20 minutes on the clock and they went from a 7:6 lead to a 13:7 half-time lead as, after scoring six in the first 19 minutes, no further goals were added for the rest of the half.

Josip Sarac scored all four of his goals in that first period, but goalkeeper Ivan Eres also helped towards making the game more comfortable for his Croatian side with nine first half stops from 15 Icelandic attempts.

The rest of the match was not that competitive as a 10-goal difference became 13 between the 40th and 46th minute and Croatia looked to rotate and rest their key players ahead of their quarter-finals tomorrow.

Vistorop ended on six goals for his side, while Orri Freyr Porekelsson scored five for Iceland to top-score for his side.

Croatia will await the winners of the Tunisia vs Sweden to see who their last eight match-up will be.

Best Player of the Match: Filip Vistorop (CRO)
