Following the completion of the preliminary round at the 2019 IHF Men’s Junior World Championship, the match schedule for the eighth-finals and placement round 17-24 is now known.

All games will be played at the Pavillon Municipal de Deportes de Pontevedra and As Travesas Sports Hall, Vigo, and will be streamed live on IHF.info. For more information click HERE.

Match evaluation and determination of places

Eighth-Finals

After completion of the preliminary round, all matches shall be played in accordance with the knock-out system.

In case of a draw at the end of the regular playing time, after a break of five (5) minutes, a first overtime period of 2x five minutes shall be played, changing sides halfway through with a one (1)-minute break in-between. Provisions to the contrary set for individual tournaments shall be given priority.
  
If the match should still not be decided after this overtime period, after a break of five minutes, a second overtime period of 2x five minutes shall be played, changing ends halfway through with a one-minute break in-between.

Should the match still not be decided after the second overtime period, it is decided with 7m penalty throws in accordance with Rule 2:2 of the Rules of the Game.

The winners of the eighth-finals shall advance to the quarter-finals; the losers compete in the placement matches (9th-16th rank).

Placement round / Placement matches

In case of a draw at the end of the regular playing time, direct 7m penalty throws shall be executed to decide the match in accordance with Rule 2:2 of the Rules of the Game.
