Positive COVID-19 test result in Denmark team

The IHF has been informed that Danish player Emil Jakobsen tested positive for COVID-19 today. According to the Egypt 2021 COVID-19 Medical Precaution Plan, the player has been immediately isolated, just as well as his roommate.

The player concerned tested positive for COVID-19 before and has received a positive test result again at the latest test in Egypt. He will not be allowed to participate in today’s match against Bahrain.

His roommate must return a negative test result before he will be allowed to participate in the match today or return to the team in general.

Following the regulations of the COVID-19 Medical Precaution Plan, the entire Danish delegation will be tested again today as well as tomorrow.

Denmark’s Sporting Director Morten Henriksen commented that they are very sorry on behalf of Emil Jakobsen. “However, we are very prepared for this situation and we follow our own and the IHF protocols.”
