IHF Trophy Zone 6 Africa now in full swing

On Tuesday 7 May, eight more matches were played at the youth and the junior age categories of the Men's IHF Trophy Zone 6 Africa in Harare, Zimbabwe.

In Group A of the youth (U18) tournament, home side Zimbabwe claimed their second straight win, beating South Africa 43:15. Malawi defeated Lesotho 35:15, so after two matches, Zimbabwe have four points, Malawi and South Africa are level on two points, and Lesotho still have no points. On Wednesday, Lesotho play South Africa at 10:00 (local time) before Zimbabwe meet Malawi at 12:00.

In Group B, Zambia proved too strong for Namibia, 53:8, while Mozambique defeated Swaziland 31:18. So Zambia have four points and are through to the semi-finals, Swaziland and Mozambique are on two points, and Namibia have no points. On day three, Mozambique face Namibia and 14:00, and Zambia meet Swaziland at 16:00.

In the youth (U20) competition, South Africa meet Namibia 36:16, and Zambia downed Lesotho 61:10 in Group A. Now Zambia lead the group with four points, South Africa and Lesotho are tied on two points, and Namibia are yet to claim their points. On Wednesday, Lesotho face Namibia at 10:00, and South Africa meet Zambia at 12:00.

And in Group B of the same event, home team Zimbabwe defeated Mozambique 26:22, while Malawi had the upper hand against Swaziland, 50:24. Zimbabwe lead the race with four points, followed by Malawi and Mozambique (both two points) and Swaziland (no points). On day three, Swaziland face Mozambique at 14:00, and Zimbabwe take on Malawi at 16:00.Â
