On 27 June 2018, IHF President Dr Hassan Moustafa welcomed the President of the African Handball Confederation (CAHB), Mr Mansourou Aremou, as well Mr Pedro Godinho, 2nd CAHB Vice-President, Mr Seydou Diouf, CAHB Council Member and Mr Philippe Houessou, the reporter of the CAHB working group in charge of collecting Zones needs, to the IHF Head Office in Basle. After Dr Moustafa opened the meeting, CAHB President Aremou took the floor in order to present the plans and strategies of CAHB to develop handball further in Africa, such as the Zones Development projects and specific projects of the National Federations, which was followed by an assessment of the new version of the IHF Trophy and the presentation of the qualification system of players for the senior African Nations Championships A and B and the IHF Trophy Africa – Continental Phase. Aremou praised the new version of the IHF Trophy, which is now another pathway to continental qualifications and World Championships. IHF President Moustafa praised the quality of the Gabon 2018 African Men’s Championship, which was organised in January and served as qualification event for the 2019 IHF Men’s World Championship to be held in Germany and Denmark. On behalf of the IHF, he conveyed his appreciation for the level of organisation and the TV coverage of the event as well as the interest of the President of the Republic of Gabon, H.E. Ali Bongo Ondimba, who attended the opening and closing ceremonies together with Mr Pier Claver Maganga Moussavou, Vice-President of the Republic of Gabon.
