From 11 to 29 January 2017, all eyes of the handball world were on France where the organiser staged a “truly phenomenal” 25th IHF Men’s World Championship, according to IHF President Dr Hassan Moustafa. Over the course of the World Championship Dr Moustafa not only watched the group matches in Paris, Nantes, Rouen and Metz as well as the eighth-finals in Lille and Paris and the last day of the President’s Cup in Brest but attended the openings of the Coaches’ Symposium on 11 January and the Medical Congress on 20 January. Furthermore the IHF President met with the Handball@School Working Group, with NBC USA and representatives of Auburn University and Leipzig University as well as representatives of the 2019 Women’s World Championship, which will take place in Japan. Dr Moustafa also participated in the IHF Council and Executive Committee meetings held in Paris. During the event he travelled also to Lausanne on 16 and 17 January to meet with the Minister of Sports of China, Mr Gou Zhongwen, who is also newly elected President of the Chinese National Olympic Committee.
