The opening day of the IHF Emerging Nations Men's Championship already included games from each participating team. Host nation Kosovo had the biggest margin victory beating Armenia 60:17, while the other match from Group A ended with a draw between Faroe Island and Australia at the final result of  34:34.

Group B saw the most dramatic game which was decided by just one goal when Great Britain emerged victorious against Estonia at a score of 26:27. In the second match of Group B, Cameroon prevailed clearly against Albania at 51:12.

In Group C Malta could earn an extremely close victory over China at 28:29, while Moldova did not have any problems to secure the win against Ireland at 43:20.

Latvia and Bulgaria proved to be equal competitors in Group D, with Latvia being the lucky winner at 27:25 in the end. In the second encounter of Group D, Uruguay overran Andorra at 38:9.
