Some might say early, but IHF President Dr. Hassan Moustafa attended the throw off event for the 2017 Men’s World Championship which was held in Paris today, 13 March.  Accompanied by Mr Joël Delplanque, FFHB and France Handball 2017 President as well as member of the Executive Committee of the International Handball Federation, French Secretary of State for Sports Thierry Braillard, European Handball Federation’s President Mr. Jean Brihault,  Mr Edouard Donnelly -  General Manager of the Organization Committee and beIN Sports President Mr Youssef Al Obaidli, the President launched the countdown to this magnificent event exactly 669 days before the throw off of the first match in France.

Under the title ¨PHENOMENAL HANDBALL¨ the organizing Committee presented the logo, the visual identity as well as the global communication concept of the 2017 World Championship. The venues for the Event were announced as well, and Aix en Provence, Montpellier, Albertville, Nantes, Brest, Rouen, Metz, Lille and of course Paris will be on the center stage of the world of sports  in January 2017 as 88 matches of the IHF’s premium Event will be played across the arenas  in one of the most successful handball nations.

On court, the French team will be faced with the enormous challenges of retaining the title on home soil, while the Organizing Committee has set an even more ambitious task: ONE MILLION spectators live in the Arenas during the Event.

¨France has the knowhow for organizing sport Events. We are all aware that the most important element in the success of any event are the spectators. From previous IHF Events organized in France I know that the French fans have rich sport culture. They even attend matches when France is not playing. Therefore I am looking forward to full venues and breaking the record set during the World Championship in 2007 which took place in Germany ¨ - stated Dr. Moustafa to the 200 attendees on the press conference during the event.

The Championship will start on 11 January and the big Final will be played on 29 January. 24 teams from all over the world will fight to succeed France as world champion.
