The last qualification event for the 2015 Men’s World Championship in Qatar will take place in Montevideo, Uruguay, where three spots for Doha will be decided at the Pan American Championships. Nine teams vie for the title, and the three medallists will book their tickets.

On Saturday (24 May) the draw for the preliminary rounds took place in the Uruguayan capital – with the result that the two top favourites Brazil and Argentina will go separate ways and will face earliest in the semi-finals.

Defending champions Argentina compete with Chile, Greenland and Mexico in group B, while Brazil, 2016 Olympic host and runners-up of the 2010 and 2012 championships, face Uruguay, USA, Venezuela and Guatemala in group A. At the South American championships in April, Brazil had defeated their arch rivals and neighbours in the final.

The each two best ranked teams of the preliminary round meet in the semi-finals.
