The IXX Women’s Junior World Championship (U20) will be hosted by Croatia from 28 June to 13 July. Now the International Handball Federation has confirmed the venues and the general schedule of the event, which will take place in the cities of Koprivnica, Dugo Selo (where host Croatia will have their matches of the preliminary round), Čakovec and Zagreb. 

By now, eleven of those 24 teams to participate in this event have clinched their berth to Croatia. Ten spots will be decided in six qualification tournaments all over Europe from 18 to 20 April, the three spots for Pan-America will be confirmed in the Continental Championship in Buenos Aires, Argentina, from 30 March to 7 April.

Those teams have already qualified for the IXX Women’s Junior World Championship:
Host: Croatia
Defending U18 World Champion: Denmark
Europe: Russia, Hungary
Asia: Korea, Japan, China, Kazakhstan
Africa: Angola, DR Congo, Tunisia


The compulsory place of the continent of Oceania has been reallocated to the continental confederation in attendance of a substitute (EHF), since Oceania will not participate. So Europe was awarded with an additional place.

The Preliminary Round (28 June to 5 July, six teams in four groups) will be played in Koprivnica, Dugo Selo, Čakovec and Zagreb. Those teams to finish fifth and sixth in their groups will continue in the President’s Cup in Čakovec from 7 to 9 July. The Eighth-Finals with the each four best teams of all groups will take place on 7 July in Koprivnica and Dugo Selo, followed by the Quarter-Finals in Koprivnica (9 July) and the Placement Round 9-18 in Dugo Selo (9, 10 and 12 July).  The losers of the Quarter-Finals compete in the Placement Round 9 – 16 (11 and 13 July) in Koprivnica, while the semi-finalists face on 11 July in Koprivnica, where the medal’s matches will take place on 13 July. 

The date of the draw event and details of the draw procedure will be announced in due time.
