The quarter-finals of the African Championship have been played on Wednesday 22 January in Algiers – now the semi-finals of the men’s and women’s tournament on Friday 24 January are confirmed.

In the women’s competition, the rematch of the 2012 final Tunisia vs. Angola will decide the first finalists, while host Algeria will face DR Congo in the second semi. In the preliminary round Angola had beaten Tunisia clearly.

In the men’s tournament the top favourites Tunisia and Egypt will face like in the preliminary round (when defending champion Tunisia took the victory), host Algeria also made it to the semi-final and will face Angola. 
The three medallists of both competitions will clinch their berth for the 2015 World Championship in Qatar (men) and Denmark (women). 

In the men’s tournament, Algeria (44:21 against Senegal), Egypt (24:15 against Morocco) and Tunisia (44:21 against Congo) had easy-going quarter-finals in Algiers, while the Angolans had to struggle hard, before they beat Cameroon 24:21 (12:12).
The quarter-final results in the women’s competition were much closer: DR Congo beat Congo 27:22 (13:13), Tunisia was successful against Senegal by 31:27 (17:13), defending champion Angola was victorious against Cameroon by 28:23 (17:11) and host Algeria beat Guinea by 25:17 (14:8).

Women’s tournament:
11:30 hrs. local time: Angola vs. Tunisia
13:45 hrs. local time: Algeria vs. DR Congo

Men’s tournament:
16:00 hrs. local time: Tunisia vs. Egypt
18:15 hrs. local time: Algeria vs. Angola
