It is a great pleasure and great honour to invite all handball fans to attend the games of the 17th Handball World Championship for Women’s Juniors in Korea. Handball has a great tradition and plays a successful role in Korea and therefore the entire handball family is looking forward to a great WCH tournament in the cities of Seoul, Gwangju & Cheonan. Looking back to Korean Handball, the starting points were the Olympic Games in Los Angeles in 1984 when the Korean women’s handball team as the first non-European team succeeded in winning a medal at a major tournament. 4 years later, at the Olympic Games in Seoul, the women claimed gold whereas the men took silver. It is therefore almost logical that this year, the most significant competition for young female handball talents will take place in Korea. On this occasion I would like to invite the Korean audience and spectators to attend matches whether their team is playing or not in order to achieve the set goals of this important WCH.
